~Music & Oysters for Wildlife 2011 (Awendaw, South Carolina)~
~~~~~
One of the best events -for a wonderful cause - is taking place on Saturday, 12 January 2013 (from 2-6 pm) within a stone's throw of Highway 17 in Awendaw, South Carolina.
The Sewee Outpost (a favorite place of mine) is hosting the 8th annual Music & Oysters for Wildlife event to benefit the SEWEE Association.? There will be plenty of oysters (and burgers and hotdogs), beer and wine - and the music is always great (thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of many local musicians as well as Awendaw Green).
Music & Oysters for Wildlife, or MOW - is a fun way to spend a January Saturday afternoon in the lowcountry of South Carolina.? While enjoying local oysters and local musicians, you will support a group that works tirelessly to provide environmental education here along coastal South Carolina.? A bit about the SEWEE Association (from their website):
The South Eastern Wildlife and Environment Education Association (SEWEE Association) is the Friend's Group for the National Wildlife Refuges (NWR) and National Forest (NF) of coastal South Carolina. We are partners with Cape Romain NWR, Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin NWR, Waccamaw NWR and Francis Marion NF.?
We work with our federal partners to achieve their mission in biological, cultural and educational activities. We have supported the Endangered Red Wolf and the Loggerhead Sea Turtle Nesting projects of Cape Romain NWR for over 10 years. We have helped Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin NWR create a new public use area on the Combahee unit of the refuge. And we have worked with Waccamaw NWR as they develop places for visitors both in Georgetown and Horry counties.
