Manchester Hosts Energy Assistance Day At Lincoln Center

People who need help with their heating bills should check in at the town's Energy Assistance Day Wednesday at Lincoln Center.

The town and the Community Renewal Team are hosting the event, slated for 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Call 860-647-3096 to make an appointment.

Several workers will be available to take applications, according to a news release. First-time applicants must bring Social Security cards and birth certificates of all household members. Applicants also must bring their landlord's name, address and phone number; complete copies of all most recent bank statements; copy of a current heating bill; documentation of all household income for four consecutive weeks before the appointment; and current rent receipt or a copy of applicant's lease if heat is included with rent. Homeowners should bring a mortgage statement.

Other requirements and income guidelines are available at http://humanservices.townofmanchester.org.

Awarded benefits will go directly to heating companies and will appear as a credit on the applicant's next heating statement or oil delivery, according to the human service department's website.
