DEFENDERS OF WILDLIFE
TEMPORARY EMPLOYEE DESCRIPTION
BASIC SUMMARY:
This temporary position is responsible for assisting in the implementation of citizen science/outreach efforts focusing on wolverines in the Rocky Mountain Region. This project assistant will work closely to assist the Defenders? Rockies and Plains Representative on this project and possibly on other tasks. This position will mainly involve computer work, telephone and in-person communications with numerous entities, interactions with the public at events, and some regional traveling.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Work closely with Defenders? Rockies and Plains Representative to help plan and implement outreach efforts relating to wolverines.
? Effectively communicate with the public, organizations, agencies, and other Defenders employees.
? Maintain timely and complete accounting of activities and expenses.
? Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
? Education: Education background in wildlife or resource conservation, management, or science.
? Experience: Some experience in wildlife or resource conservation, management, or science.
? Other:
? Understanding of wildlife biology and related fields.
? Excellent communication skills?both written and oral.
? Ability to work independently to initiate and implement project ideas.
? Ability to work constructively as a member of a team.
? Personal interest and commitment to conservation.
? Experience in computers and word processing programs.
TIMING AND LOGISTICS:
? The selected candidate will be able to commence the position immediately.
? The position has some flexibility in duration, ranging from 3 to 5 months (from January 2013 up to May 2013) upon approval.

? The position has some flexibility in number of hours a week, ranging from 15 to 25 hours/week (not to exceed 235 hours) upon approval.
? Days and hours of week worked are somewhat negotiable.
? Temporary employee needs to provide own housing in either Missoula or Bozeman or surrounding area.
? Reimbursement for expenses (transportation, printing, etc) will be provided upon approval.
? Temporary employee needs to have their own vehicle for local travel.
? This position pays $15/hour.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
? The employee will be required to travel, including to some locations that may be difficult to access such as rural or remote locations.
? While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate with others.

Defenders is hiring a part time, temporary employee responsible for assisting in the implementation of citizen science/outreach efforts focusing on wolverines in the Rocky Mountain Region. The assistant will focus mainly on outreach to recreational organizations and stores to distribute?wolverine?identification and reporting cards, as well as attending various events to distribute the cards and other wolverine outreach information. This position will mainly involve computer work, telephone and in-person communications with numerous entities, interactions with the public at events, and some regional traveling.
