HitFilm Standard

Editor's Note: This product has not yet been tested. The following coverage is based on information provided by the manufacturer or developer.

FXhome Limited's HitFilm Standard can add 3D effects to your digital video productions, such as falling debris, fire, explosions, smoke, and weather simulations. Beyond those, it can even produce light sabers, invisibility, and clones. But it's more than just an effect tool, the software can do video editing basics like clip trimming and joining.

HitFilm allows up to ten tracks of audio and video, and can apply transitions and knock out green screen backgrounds with chroma keying. The program handles color correction, apply masks, and even alter depth of field using blurring. Time-altering effects like speed ramping and motion trails are also possible in HitFilm. A "film look" feature can give your movie the feel of a blockbuster or thriller.

HitFilm supports 32- and 64-bit CPUs, anc can take advantage of graphics cards and multiple CPU cores to accelerate rendering complex simulations. The program is available in a couple more levels: The $359 Ultimate version adds 45 more effects, lets you design your own, and can stabilize video. It also lets you import 3D camera tracking data. The $647 Ultimate Studio edition adds several software applications from Sony, including Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 11, Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio 10, and Sony DVD Architect Studio 5.
