Disruption in service for Twitter micro-blogging service | ZDNet

Summary: UPDATE: Company officials are mum as users report at least some return of service following an outage for potentially millions.

?Waiting for twitter.com?? is the message of the day for users of the popular social sharing service.

At least some and likely many users have been unable to access the micro-blogging site for at least the past hour.

No word yet on what has caused the outage and the company?s own Status blog only says that ?Users may be experience (sic) some issues with our service; our engineers are currently working on the issue.?

Even trying to access other areas of the company?s corporate website returns a message that ?Twitter is over capacity.?

So far, attempts to reach the company by email and phone for more information about the outage and estimated repair time have been unsuccessful.

UPDATE: A Twitter representative responded via email that the company has no comment on the outage and referred users to the Twitter status blog at?status.twitter.com.
