Hey Friends! I mentioned yesterday that I am leaving tomorrow for Blissdom!! I'm so excited to attend the conference & see all of my blogging buddies in real life! I'm also excited to meet some new faces! I'll be busy posting updates via Instagram and Facebook while I'm gone, so be sure to follow along!!
Because things have been a little hectic this week, I ask my friend Emily to guest post for me while I was gone. Emily is a personal friend of my & a fellow Southern Illinoisian. Her & her hubby started a DIY blog a few months back & they have been crazy busy with all kinds of fabulous projects! Be sure to head on over to her blog & check it out....after you check out this adorable project that is.....
Hey y'all! ?I'm Emily from Bonfires and Wine and I'm so excited to be guest posting here today! ?I have to admit I'm quite jealous of my fellow blog friends who are hanging out in Dallas right now at the Blissdom Conference! ?My hubby and I hope to attend next year but until then, I'm very honored to have been asked to share a project with you guys here at Love of Family & Home! ? We recently did a major overhaul on our bathroom. ?You can check it out HERE if you didn't already see it. ?One of the projects included in the makeover was a monogram burlap canvas.Did I mention it was made with LIMA BEANS!?!?
Yep, you saw that right! ?I first showed our B&W readers a little?lima?bean craft in our Spring Table Post.I started out with an 8x10 canvas and some burlap.
I cut my burlap to size and wrapped my canvas just like a present, using hot glue to secure it all the way around.
Initially, this project was displayed without any beans. ?If you checked out the reveal post you may have noticed it looked like this...
It was ok. ?JUST ok. ?It needed a little flair. ?A little texture.
I added buttons. ?I added pearls. ?I added ribbon.
But none of them were right. ?They didn't fit my theme or flow with the other decor and style of the room. ?Then, my little lima bean ball popped into my head. ?So, I grabbed the hot glue gun and got to work!
Then I grabbed some white spray paint and gave it a few coats! ?The two colors of beans made the spray paint cover differently giving the letter a little bit of a distressed look!
This quick and simple touch gave my monogram a whole new look!
I wasn't truly satisfied with it before, but after a little work I was definitely happy with my lima bean face lift! :)
I hope you guys enjoyed this quick and simple project!?
That's it for me today! ?Huge thanks to Tonya for letting me take over her blog today! I hope your having a blast so far in Dallas and we can't wait to hear all about it!
Thanks for hanging out with me today!
~Emily
